Pretty much a month ago, on March 20, 2020, as a measure against the spread of the COVID-19 virus, visa-free entry to Indonesia was stopped. What has changed since then and what is the current situation?
In short, all foreign travelers are currently prohibited from entering and even transiting Indonesia. The Komodo National Park is closed until May 29th and other tourist attractions in Flores are closed until further notice. Accordingly, there are currently no tourists in Komodo, which is why most of the hotels in Labuan Bajo have temporarily stopped operating. The restaurants only offer pick-up and delivery services, and local eateries such as warungs and supermarkets are open with reduced working hours. There is no curfew, people can go out on the street and do everything necessary. Large gatherings of groups, house parties or celebrations should be avoided – which is also largely complied with. There is no panic among the people – the locals and the expats take the situation seriously and with responsibility.
In Labuan Bajo all diving centers are closed. We have also temporarily suspended our daily business, but are personally here on site, with our team and our boat. Like all divers, we miss diving and are waiting for the good news. It is currently unclear when travelling will be allowed again and when we can welcome our guests. We monitor the developments – both in Indonesia and outside of the country – and follow the news. We will continue communicating all the latest news to our guests and readers.
We are currently offering all our divers who have booked with us during the Komodo National Park closure a free of charge rebooking option. All other bookings for 2020 are still valid and we offer our guests more flexible payment and cancellation options. All remaining bookings comply with our regular terms and conditions. We appreciate the support of our guests and thank them for rebooking their vacations with us and even sending new bookings for a later date.
You can send all your questions regarding your existing or future bookings directly to us by e-mail at komodo@wetfrogdivers.com We look forward to your messages and are happy to answer them. Our contact with our guests is important to us, which is why we are also available to you on our channels in social media. Whether a comment on Instagram, a Like on Facebook, or a WhatsApp message – connect to us, we are here for you.
We thank our guests and friends for their support and look forward to seeing you all soon again and especially to diving together with you in Komodo National Park.
Please, stay healthy and take care of yourself and your loved ones!
