Flying a Drone in Komodo National Park? Read This First!

Padar Island in Komodo National ParkDreaming of capturing aerial shots of those iconic islands and turquoise bays? Drone use is allowed in Komodo National Park, and you need to follow the new regulations to help protect the wildlife and preserve the peaceful nature of the islands.

If you plan to fly a drone within the park, here’s what you need to know:

  • Registration is mandatory via the official BTNK website
  • You’ll need to provide details like serial number, your name, and photo of the drone
  • You are required to have a drone pilot license
  • Processing time is 2–7 days, so we highly recommend registering well in advance of your arrival
  • The fee is IDR 2,000,000 per drone per day

Most importantly, always fly with respect. Drones must not disturb wildlife—especially the Komodo dragons, birds, and other sensitive species. Avoid loud buzzing near animals, do not fly too low, and steer clear of nesting or resting areas. Nature comes first.

Responsible flying helps protect this fragile ecosystem while still allowing you to capture its beauty from above. Thank you for helping us keep Komodo peaceful—for both visitors and its wild residents.
