“I want to scuba dive, but I don’t have a diving certificate.”
“I want to learn how to dive, but I’m not sure I can.”
— We hear this a lot from our guests. That’s exactly what Discover Scuba Diving is for!
What is a Discover Scuba Dive?
It’s a short, beginner-friendly program designed for those who want to try scuba diving without committing to a full course or certification. At PADI it’s called Discover Scuba Diving (DSD), at SSI – Basic Diver, but the idea is the same.
How does a Discover Scuba Dive work?
Thorough Briefing
It all starts with a theory session. Our instructor will explain the diving equipment, safety rules, how to behave underwater, and the key hand signals used for communication.
Training in Confined Water
This usually takes place in a swimming pool or a calm, shallow area in the ocean. You will learn and practice a few basic skills to help you feel more comfortable underwater — such as clearing your mask and regulator, retrieving a lost regulator, and using your buddy’s alternate air source. After that, you’ll have a chance to swim underwater at a shallow depth under your instructor’s supervision. This is where you’ll get your first taste of weightlessness and learn how to control your buoyancy.
Dive in the Open Sea
Now the real adventure begins! On our comfortable and spacious boat, you’ll head out to Komodo National Park for some real actual dives. With your instructor by your side, you’ll explore the amazing underwater world of Komodo.
What will you see?
Expect vibrant coral reefs in Komodo National Park, colorful tropical fish, and unforgettable impressions. At some dive sites, you might even encounter turtles or giant manta rays — don’t worry, they’re completely harmless!
Is it safe?
Absolutely! You’ll dive one-on-one (or maximum in a group of 2 : 1) with our professional and experienced instructor. The maximum depth is 12 meters, but if you’re more comfortable staying shallow, that’s perfectly fine too. All gear is checked beforehand, and your instructor will be with you every step of the way, ready to help if needed. We only take you to beginner-friendly dive sites without strong currents and with moderate depths.
What should you bring?
Almost nothing! We provide all the equipment, the instructor and all the infrastructure. During the trip, on our boat, you can enjoy drinking water, tea, coffee, fruits, snacks, and a freshly prepared lunch. All you need to prepare is:
- Swimwear
- A towel
- Good mood and a bit of courage
Discover the underwater world today!
A try dive is not a test or a competition. It’s simply a chance to become an ocean explorer, to slow down, and to get a glimpse into a new and amazing world.
And it might be your first step into the full course of Open Water Diver.
