Seasons and Docking

Komodo National ParkThe Seasons in Komodo — and What Happens When the Boat Takes a Break

Every destination has its rhythm — and Komodo is no different. To put it simply, here in Komodo we follow the rhythm of the dry season and the rainy season. From April to October, we enjoy dry, sunny months, while November to March brings the rainy season.

The rainy season is caused by the southwest or northwest monsoon winds, which carry moist air from the ocean to the land. And while most of the year spoils us with dry air and sunny skies, January and February mark the peak of the rainy season. The winds can shift, rain showers are frequent, and the humidity rises so much that you can start sweating even while sitting still.

But the rainy season is also a time for something different!

During these two months, our boat goes into docking for its yearly maintenance — a bit like a spa treatment after a busy dive season! We make sure everything is in top condition, safe, and ready for new adventures ahead. At the same time, our team takes a short holiday break, spending time with family, traveling, or recharging their own batteries before the new season begins.

This quiet period also gives us the chance to reflect, improve, and plan ahead — to look back at the past year, gather feedback, and brainstorm new ideas. It’s the perfect moment to fine-tune our services, add those small details that make a big difference, and prepare to welcome you back with fresh energy and inspiration.

Of course, rainy season in Komodo also has its own charm — and quite a few advantages worth mentioning:

  • Fewer tourists: It’s the off-season, which means it’s often quieter and more peaceful.
  • Greener landscapes: Nature flourishes, and the islands turn a deeper, richer green.
  • Spectacular waterfalls: Thanks to the rainfall, the waterfalls are at their most impressive.
  • Mild temperatures: With average daytime temperatures around 27°C, it’s pleasantly warm.

However, since weather conditions can be unpredictable, we usually don’t organize group dive trips or longer stays during this period. We always follow the harbour master´s announcements regarding the weather and possible temporary port closures. So, if you plan your trip in January or February, please keep the wet season in mind – and be ready for some last-minute changes.

Because we can’t stay away from the diving world for too long, we also use this time to visit international dive shows and fairs — to meet friends, share stories, and present Wet Frog Divers to the global dive community. The next dive fair is coming soon, and we´ll update you in just a few weeks.

So while Komodo takes a deep breath and the rains fall gently over the islands, we’re already looking ahead — excited, inspired, and getting ready to create your next unforgettable dive experience in our little paradise.

Stay tuned — the new season is just around the corner!

Your Wet Frog Divers Team
